STEM Immersion Program

The STEM Immersion Program is a 5-day summer program held on the campus of KSU that focuses on African American Males and provides them with “hands on” educational experiences & exposure to STEM Jobs, while also hearing from professionals in the field.

Our Objective

Our main goal in the STEM Immersion program is to spur interest in STEM fields for African American male high school students in Cobb and North Fulton Counties to encourage future employment in STEM. Our program provides students hands on educational & experiential knowledge, awareness, exposure, and understanding of “STEM” related fields.

Opportunity

STEM jobs are one of the fastest growing sectors’ but African America males are significantly underrepresented in these fields, making up only 7% of computer occupations and only 5% of engineers. Evidence suggests “Underrepresented communities of Students” participation in STEM summer programs make them more likely to graduate high school, attend 4 colleges, & earn STEM degrees.
